A: A PMI REP or Registered Education provider is an organization that has undergone a stringent review of the quality of training delivery by PMI and has been recognized by PMI to assign pre-approved professional development units or PDUs to PMP credential holders. 

A: Each PMP® certification cycle lasts for three years during which you will need to earn 60 PDUs (Professional Development Units) to renew your certification at the end of the cycle.

A: The PMP certification exam is based on the PMP Exam Content Outline. The exam content outline categorizes questions into 5 Domains - Initiating (13%), Planning (24%), Executing (31%), Monitoring and Controlling (25%), and Closing (7%). Each domain consists of multiple Tasks that a project manager performs. All of these domains and associated tasks are described in detail in the PMBoK.

A: The PMP exam is composed of 200 multiple choice questions. Out of these 200 questions, 25 questions are pre-test. The time allotted is four hours.

A: The PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition covers project management's best practices under 5 Process Groups - Initiating, Planning, Executing, Monitoring and Controlling, and Closing), and ?10 Knowledge Areas (Project Integration Management, Project Scope Management, Project Schedule Management, Project Cost Management, Project Quality Management, Project Resource Management, Project Communications Management, Project Risk Management, Project Procurement Management, Project Stakeholder Management). A total of ?49 Processes are mapped across process groups and knowledge areas.

What has changed from PMBoK® v5 -

  • 2 Knowledge Areas have been renamed - Time Management to Schedule Management, and Human Resource Management to Resource Management.
  • There are now 49 processes from the earlier 47. 3 new processes have been added - Manage Project Knowledge, Implement Risk Response, and Control Resources, and 1 process has been removed - Close Procurements. Further, 9 processes have been renamed.?
  • This an increased Agile focus, with a separate section in each knowledge area titled Approaches for Agile, Iterative and Adaptive Environments.
  • Finally, ?1 new chapter has been added on the role of the project manager in relation to the PMI Talent Triangle.
